Nintendo discloses Switch, domains get registered

Over 100 Switch-related domain names registered yesterday.

Nintendo disclosed its next video game console, the Nintendo Switch, yesterday. As you might expect, people took the opportunity to register Switch domain names that might be useful one day.

175 .com and .net domain names counting the word “switch” were registered yesterday, as stated by Verisign DomainView. To be sure, not all of these are related to Nintendo’s fresh product. But here are some of the Nintendo related domain names that were registered:

NintendoSwitchSystem.com – registered by firm in Fresh Jersey
MarioKartSwitch.com – a woman in San Diego
SwitchControllers.com – domain investor in Minnesota
NintendoSwitchUpdates.com – private whois
CashForNintendoSwitchGames.com – software firm in California

I don’t recommend registering domain names like these since it’s a good way to find yourself on the receiving end of a cybersquatting complaint.
