Firm applies for five “dot brands” plus generic strings, such as .agent, .skill.

Artificial intelligence firm OpenAI has decided to get into the top level domain name business.

The firm applied for fifteen top level domain names:

agent
agi
asi
chatgpt
codex
daybreak
deploy
evals
gpt
mcp
model
oai
openai
skill
voice

The firm is one of thirteen to apply for .agent. It will have to compete against Google and Meta for the domain.

Five of the domains are applied for as dot-brand domains: .chatgpt, .codex, .oai, .openai, and .gpt.

Two other firms applied for .gpt as open top level domain names.

It’s interesting to see .voice on the list. Perhaps it’s a sign of things to come in AI.

Rival Anthropic only applied for two dot-brand domains: .anthropic and .claude.
