Domain financing, IDN parking — Sedo introduces

Sedo has partnered with DomainCapital for financing of domains over $10,000 and has disclosed support for international domain names.

Buying domain names can be a good investment, but what if you don’t have the cash in hand to take advantage of a good deal? DomainCapital provides financing for domain names and has created a partnership with Sedo. As stated by a press release, Sedo has by now brokered 211 transactions for domains valued at least $10,000 this year. Personally, I’d advise looking at a number of sources for financing domains. Although a bank might not loan you money with a domain as collateral, you can usually take out a general modest business loan or finance through a home equity loan.

Sedo also disclosed that it now supports international domain names in its parking program. This includes domains with non-english characters, such as Arabic, Korean, and Mandarin. Although parking service Parked.com disclosed support for IDNs previously, the service isn’t actually supporting IDNs right now. Sedo appears to be the first firm to actually support IDNs (please comment if you know of others).
