This Morning’s Domain Name Humor
Halloween costume firm changes domain from bad to bad, “dash-com” domains launch.
I got a chuckle this morning reading a release from an online Halloween costume web site:
KBCostumes.com has changed its name to http://www.shop4halloweencostumes.com “We feel like it’s a better domain name,” states the owner. They have changed the name, but the idea is the same; purchase online costumes for less!
Hmm. I don’t like KBCostumes.com, but Shop4HalloweenCostumes.com is not an improvement. The firm could have picked up a good alternative at BuyDomains for under $2,000.
To the firm’s credit, it did register shopFORhalloweencostumes.com, too.
And another funny release comes from dotWorlds.net, which is now offering “Dash-Com” domain names. As stated by the firm you can register (for free) good domains like domains-com instead of domains.com. You have to download a browser plugin to actually visit a dash-com domain. Talk regarding dejavu — a similar scheme was tried regarding 10 years ago by Fresh.net. Fresh.net’s browser plugin helped it get into the typosquatting game.
