This stretch’s expired domain name sales roundup
Along the way to yesterday’s $20k sale of EnRoute.com, GoDaddy expired auctions zigzagged through some desirable addresses and took a few weird detours. Two domains that attracted me personally were the self-explanatory GenerateLeads.com ($8k) and Masker.com ($2.7k), which suits various privacy services and also describes a guest at a masquerade.
Other bidding results appear to be more regarding the link profiles of past websites than due to the quality of the domain per se. For instance, TheAAHC.org stands for (or stood for) The American Association for History and Computing. XVideoVK.com, meanwhile, was a Vietnamese porn site.
Now, we all know that dog owners love their dogs. Some even train their pets rather than vice versa. And pets imply spending money. But when was the last time you saw a 3-word domain ending in “basics” fetch $8.2k? There must be a dozen substitutes for “basics”, yet this domain beat out the irreplaceable GenerateLeads.com.

This week, the LLLL.com dust settled enough at GoDaddy Auctions that I’ve resumed reporting on that category. Surprisingly, though, in spite of OTTS.com ($1.3k), many of the higher 4-letter sales show .ORG instead of .COM. Take a look: LABT.org ($1k); WNGD.org ($1k), which resembles “winged”; MPRG.org ($710); NYPC.org ($480); and CUKM.org ($300).
Following a period of lower NNNNN sales, the prior week showed something of an uptick with 34499.com ($756) , 13853.com ($684), and 24321.com ($462). Yet the table above shows another 3 below $200.
We’ve seen nTLD-focused domains like DotCenter.com ($160) listed ahead of. The prior week, we saw .COM commenting on .CENTER, .MEDIA, .CLUB, and .FAIL with IntensityMedia.com ($225), DeafClubs.com ($690), and EnglishFailBlog.com ($202) for the pedants out there. Also a trio of “tube” domains for .TUBE.
So … if you’re as tired of fresh-fangled sorcery as I am, then you’ll be relieved to see TraditionalWitchcraft.net in circulation again. TerrorFinance.org, on the other hand, may not be the most cunning way to solicit donations. Speaking of violence, you’ll be waiting for quite awhile for updates on the American Civil War at SecessionNews.com, which is more likely to be regarding Scotland.
NameJet’s $8.5k sale of Shoufa.com, despite its resemblance to Arabic, is most likely Chinese Pinyin for “technique”, “skill”, and so forth. Belin at $4k is even more mysterious, since it could pertain to a quirky Spanish artist; a U.S. surname used by law firms, churches, and precision tools manufacturers; or a tiny Slovakian village.
Ragazzi.com ($3.4k) is Italian for “guys” or “boys”. It’s popular as a brand name in the USA for numerous restaurants and even a boys chorus (the .ORG). English domains were also selling at NameJet, believe it or not. GameFest.com ($2.6k) and BeBeauty.com ($2.5k) are both absolutely first-rate names.

Compared to GoDaddy the prior week, NameJet seems to have done much better with LLLL .COM sales: YEED.com ($2.5k), AHSA.com ($1.6k), SISM.com ($1401), TVLA.com ($1310), LOLR.com ($710), NBTS.com ($634), and GROWW.com ($550). UKCV.com ($206) would make a good British resume site. There were a couple of decent 4-letter .ORGs as well: Puff.org ($339), a dictionary word, and BLVD.org ($109), the street address abbreviation for “Boulevard”.
You’ll also see a “Tips” that wasn’t .TIPS and a “Media” that wasn’t .MEDIA: PrivacyTips.com ($479) and CineMedia.org ($510) — “Cine” being Spanish for “film” / “movies”.
