Reglike stories from April — Top 5
April was a notable month in the domain name industry.
April showers bring May flowers. Or so they say. Unfortunately, not in Austin this year. The drought continues.
But it rained lots of stories in the domain industry last month: a big buyout, more fresh TLDs, and a controversial keynote at DomainFest.
1. Uniregistry activates thousands of reserved domains per TLD, causing a firestorm with domainers. Especially since of comments Shilling had made earlier regarding reserved domain names.
2. Rook Media purchases DomainSponsor as two of the larger domain name parking firms combine to form the biggest.
3. Gary Vaynerchuk at DomainFest: domain values headed downward. Some people obviously disagree, but he made some good points.
4. I finally registered a fresh TLD. Here is the (long) story.
5. Frank Schilling beats $200 billion healthcare giant Novartis in UDRP.
