For domain name owners — Web hosting
Domain name investors have a number of choices regarding how to host their many domain names. The easiest option is to park the domain at various services at no cost–in fact, the parking services pay you (see ParkQuick). But what regarding when you want to create a web site for the domain in hopes of boosting revenue or the domain’s value?
Although there are thousands of web hosts out there, some aren’t “compatible” with domain name owners. Most of us are looking for a host that charges a flat rate to host as many modest-to-midsize sites as we want. Most hosts limit you to one domain name, or a half dozen at the most. That’s why I personally host most of my domains with Hostica, which lets me host unlimited domains for regarding $20 per month.
There are a couple fresh web hosting options out there that might be worth a look. First, MaxNet Hosting just launched a service “by internet marketers, for internet marketers”. MaxNet is by the same firm that created TrafficEqualizer, KeywordEqualizer, and a host of other products. MaxNet costs $47 per month (with a limited time $37 offer).
Another option is eMade.com, the firm behind the hugely popular DotComBuilder system. For $30 per month you get unlimited domain hosting with plenty of capacity. With eMade you also get ready-to-install PHP scripts that require just a click of a button to implement. This will save you time and headaches, but the PHP library is rather limited right now.
Which one of these is best? I can only vouch for Hostica, since I’ve been using them for 5 years. But MaxNet and eMade look promising and are backed by popular firms. If you have any experience with these hosts, please post comments.
