Handles currencies in long term payment plans — How GoDaddy

Sellers get the same amount, while buyers pay the USD equivalent in their preferred currency each month.

GoDaddy lease to own screen showing payments are converted to USD

This stretch, GoDaddy enabled long term payment options on Afternic domains to clients outside of the United States in their own currencies.

This isn’t as easy as it sounds.

All Afternic domain names are priced in U.S. dollars. If someone buys a domain at a buy now price, it’s easy to quote them a price in their preferred currency.

But if the client is paying over time, the value of their currency fluctuates, while the domain seller expects to receive the same amount in USD each month.

To fix for this issue, buyers will pay whatever the USD equivalent is each month. For most currencies, this will (hopefully) mean just a slight price difference each month.

Extending long term payment plans to clients outside the U.S. ought to be very beneficial to Afternic sellers. Long term plans increase sell-through rates, and these plans are now being presented to many more GoDaddy clients.
