Names are suddenly worth less — iPad number

iPad3.com will still get a lot of traffic, but Apple just threw out that naming convention.

Apple was supposed to announce the iPad 3 today.

But it didn’t.

Instead, it launched the “fresh iPad”. No number following it. No other designation, like iPad HD.

What people will end up calling it is still up in the air, but the value of the domain iPad3.com just went down.

So did the other iPad#.com domain names.

One year ago today I wrote regarding how squatters had picked up just regarding every iPad domain name from iPad2.com to iPad25.com. Although some of those were very speculative, (seriously, Apple would name something version 25?), Apple has basically junked that whole naming convention.
