Tries to halt asset sale as debts pile up — Rob Monster

Monster tells court his silver is pledged as collateral.

[Update: Monster successfully got a one week stay to the sale.]

Epik founder Rob Monster is trying to halt the sale of some of his assets that’s due to take place today, and fresh court records show his legal debts are adding up.

The King County Sheriff is due to auction off two cars, silver bullion, and other assets today to partially satisfy a judgment in a stolen domain lawsuit.

Monster is arguing that the sale shouldn’t go through for a few reasons.

First, he stated he pledged the silver (along with the equity in his home) as collateral in a $200,000 loan his dad gave him earlier this year. (In another document, Monster claims the silver is worth $200,000.)

Second, he states the 2011 Lexus is the “main winter car” for the family.

Finally, Monster stated he thought the lawsuit was a “fake lawsuit” and doesn’t recall being served.

The plaintiff in the case has by now recovered over $81,000 from Chase bank accounts.

Based on the court docket as of last night, it’s unclear if the sale will be halted today.

Separately, Matthew Adkisson, who sued since he didn’t receive his money back following a failed escrow transaction, has filed with King County to try to recover from a settlement he made with Monster. That judgment is $300,000 plus interest.
