Sky and comparison sites: End user domain sales
British broadcaster and creators of three comparison sites bought domain names.
The British broadcaster Sky is the highest-profile buyer on this stretch’s end user sales list of names sold at Sedo. Another thing you’ll notice is that buyers picked up three domain names to build comparison sites. The domains are hosted on different servers, so it appears the buyers are unrelated.
Here’s a look at some of the domains end users bought at Sedo this past week. You can review previous end user sales lists here.
RS.de €70,000 – The domain name was purchased by a MarkMonitor client, so it’s definitely an end user. We just don’t know who it is yet.
Memories.net – $41,000 – This high .net sale was courtesy of Skymorials Pty Ltd in Australia. It appears to operate the memorials site memories.com.au.
BreitBand.de €20,000 – Breitband is German for ‘broadband’. The buyer is building a lead generation site for broadband services.
Krankenkassevergleich.ch €9,000 – This domain translates to “health insurance comparison”. It is being used as an Insurance comparison site to find the best rates in Switzerland.
Intonation.com €7,000 – Forwards to Intonation.co.uk, a UK firm that provides professional translation and interpretation services.
Flotten-Versicherung.de €5,400 – This is German for “fleet insurance”. It forwards to Flottenrechner24.de, a corporate car leasing/insurance firm. It bought another domain the prior week.
Amiamo.com $5,000 – GION Intl. is a firm in Mesa, Arizona. I’m not sure what this domain is for but Amiamo means “we love” in Italian.
SkyWorlds.com $4,946 – The British media and telecommunications conglomerate Sky.
ListenLoud.com $3,000 – Purchased by the record firm Pi Rat records in Santa Cruz, California.
Casinovergleich .info £3,000 – This translates to “Casino Comparison” in German. It’s a comparison site for casinos.
Roadmate.co.uk £2,500 – Rewire Security sells GPS trackers. This domain was previously used for a site reviewing satellite navigation and automotive gadgets.
WeLoveGaming .de €2,500 – Forwards to a page on gaming products site Alternate.de. It seems to be branding for its signature gaming PC.
MarbellaRentals.com $2,500 – Forwards to a page on marbella.se, a Swedish vacation property rental site for Marbella, Spain.
FoundationWellness.com $2,288 – This domain was bought by Gridiron Captial, a business investment firm. I suspect this is for a portfolio firm.
VIPTicket.de €2,150 – Forwards to DeineTickets.de, a German ticket selling platform.
OnBoard.co $2,000 – Passageways, a software firm that provides an application for Boards of Directors called OnBoard.
