Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN) disclosed today that it is increasing the wholesale cost of .net domain names next year.

On March 1, 2027, the firm will raise the price by 10% from $10.91 to $12.00.

With 12.6 million registered .net domains, this means an additional $13.75 million or so per year will fall directly to Verisign’s bottom line.

Clients can expect to pay an additional 20 cents in ICANN fees, plus whatever their registrar charges as markup.

Registrants can avoid the fee increase for up to a decade by renewing their domains ahead of March 1, 2027.

Later this year, Verisign will introduce .web domains. The firm hasn’t disclosed pricing for .web yet.
