Google Registry has filed plans with ICANN to launch the .eat, .here, and .fly top level domain names.

The firm applied for the domains in the 2012 top level domain expansion round. With the 2026 round application window regarding to close, the firm is finally releasing the domains to the public.

For .eat and .here, a trademark sunrise period will run from September 1 to November 9.

A Dutch-auction Early Access phase will run from November 10-17.

Finally, general availability will begin on November 17.

When the firm applied for .eat, it stated it would be a dedicated namespace for entities to provide information regarding food, restaurants, and/or eating. It will compete with a number of related TLDs, counting .menu, .rest, and .restaurant.

Google anticipated .here to be used in a fairly generic way related to location. Some examples it gave included locations (restaurant.here), socially-relevant sites (meetup.here), or content pinpoints (click.here).

The firm released its .fly launch plan ahead of the others, and ICANN’s website states that the sunrise will begin on September 1. Still, the actual startup plan Google filed suggests sunrise won’t begin until January 2027.

As with Google’s other top level domain names, HTTPS will be required to use these domains.

Google isn’t the only firm pushing out TLDs from the last round just ahead of the next round of expansion begins.

Amazon launched .pay this year, and the sunrise period ends on July 20.

DishDBS, which launched .latino earlier this year, has filed to release .dot.
