Rightside notes record revenue but fresh TLD revenue growth is slow
Revenue grows in Q4 but fresh TLD revenue remains just a modest fraction of the total.
Rightside (NASDAQ:NAME) today noted record quarterly revenue for Q4 of $55.7 million, and full year revenue of $212.5 million.
All three segments of the firm — registrar, registry and aftermarket — showed quarter-over-quarter growth. But registry services (aka fresh TLDs), where the firm is betting on its future, grew only slightly.
The firm noted $2.5 million of registry services revenue, up from $2.4 million in Q3.
Its registrar segment, counting eNom and Name.com, grew from $44.0 million to $44.7 million.
Aftermarket grew fastest, from $8.5 million to $9.3 million, most likely helped by strong demand for domain names sold at NameJet. Rightside owns half of NameJet in partnership with Web.com.
Rightside lost ($3.8) million in Q4, but had an adjusted EBITDA of $2.6 million.
